7 Months

Wow, how has 7 months passed so quickly?? I am amazed every day at what our little boy is doing. He is really babbling these days.

He started, "babababa" a couple weeks ago, and we like to think he is saying, "Bubba" for Will. Then last Friday morning when I went in his room to get him he plain as day said, "Mamamama" and I was so excited. He has since continued to say both things ... Will said Dada first so I am pretty happy to be getting Mama, mama from Scott.

He is such a happy little guy, smiling all the time! He lets you know if he is tired or hungry, but other than that he is usually in a great mood. He is sleeping well, also. He is ready for bed by 7:00 and sleeps through the night (after a little Ferberizing and no more pacifier!). He is napping pretty well also; he usually gives us a good 1-2 hour nap in the morning, and then another 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon as well. Sometimes he throws a short one in the evening as well.
He is also eating like crazy. He loves his food and his formula. We have introduced pretty much every vegetable, and he really likes his veggies. He is not as crazy about fruits, especially peaches! He is working on his pincer grasp (being able to pick up thing with thumb and pointer finger. He loves puffs, but has a hard time getting them into his mouth! He loves to suck on his sippy cup as well. I have to be careful how much I put in there!

We feel beyond blessed to have our sweet baby boy! He thinks his big brother is the greatest thing ever and when no one else can make him smile, Will ALWAYS can. Life is good in the McLendon house!

Exciting Week....

This week both boys have had lots of excitement! My babies are growing up so fast...

Will had his first t-ball game on Monday night. It was a blast...for all of us. He was first in the lineup, and they were the visitors, so he was the first one to bat (and they had not praticed in 2 weeks!). He did great! He hit the ball, and got a base hit. He bats really well. Daddy says he has a good swing (Mommy does not know, but he sure does look cute!). Fielding on the other hand....I am not sure if he even realized the other team was batting. It will come in time. He was able to bat 3 times, and got the game ball! Such an exciting day!

Scott is now sitting up all by himself! It is so much fun so see him turning into a big boy. He also got his first tooth this week! It is the bottom left (center) tooth. I knew one was going to be coming in soon because he was chewing on everything. Sure enough, Monday night I felt it. You can see a little white now poking through. He is finally feeling better, and is eating like crazy!! He is having oatmeal for breakfast after a bottle, a vegetable around lunchtime (after a bottle), another midday bottle, then a vegetable and fruit for dinner, and a nighttime bottle. He is a hungry boy!

6 Month Stats...

Weight: 20 lbs, 3 oz (90%tile)
Height: 27.5 inches (80%tile)

Scott has lost a little weight since the flu ... but he is still one BIG boy!! Any bets on how long it will be before he passes up big brother?? At 6 months Will was 26 inches and 17.4 lbs.

Opening Day

Last weekend was Opening Day for Montgomery Little League. I am officially a baseball mom! They had a little parade through downtown, and then a ceremony back at the fields. It was entertaining to say the least. Will's first game is next Monday so I will make sure to take pictures of our little Red Sox player! He loves it!

6 Months

Scott is rolling all over the place these days. Last Monday night, in the middle of him feeling terrible, he decided to start rolling from his back to his tummy. Once he got that figured out, he was all over the place. He rolls clear across the living room! It is so much fun to watch.

He is also so close to sitting up on his own. He can balance pretty well. We prop the Boppy behind him, that way when he loses his balance he has a soft landing. He is getting stronger every day!

He loves interaction with other people. He smiles, and giggles....and if he is having fun with you, you better not leave his sight! He gets upset! Yesterday I had him in the highchair and he was playing with some toys and babbbling while I vaccumed. I went around a corner and he was not happy! The second I walked back around and he saw me, he went right back to smiling. Funny boy.

After he has been so sick, we decided to pull him out of daycare for a while. YaYa and Nonnie & Poppy will be watching him untl summer. He will be home with us over the summer, then will start back In August when he will be almost a year old. This way he will older and able to fight off all this yucky stuff.

He has lost his appetite a little since the flu...but all in all, he loves to eat. He loves peas and green beans the most! He is also a fan of squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes.

I cannot believe 6 months has flown by so quickly. Scott is such a joy in all our lives. He is a happy, playful baby who absolutely LOVES his big brother! Will can always make him smile. It is amazing to see the bond between brothers at such a young age! What a blessing our 2 boys are.

First time in a highchair at a restaurant!

The flu is NO fun...

...and we know because both boys have had it this week, and are still recovering from. My poor babies. Will had his flu shot, but he still got it. Scott started running fever last Sunday, and he was so fussy. Patrick stayed home Monday and took him to the doctor, where his flu test came back positive and then they sent him for a chest x-ray because they were afraid of pneumonia. Luckily, the x-ray came back clear. I picked Will up that afternoon and by the time I got him home he had fever. He went to the doctor Tuesday, and his flu test came back negative, but they did not feel that was accurate and put him on Tamiflu. His fever spiked up to almost 103 on Wednesday, and Scott's fever came back yesterday. It has been a long week. They do seem to be on the mend though. We have decided that Scott is going to stay with my Mom until the end of the school year, then will be home with Patrick and I all summer. So, he will be almost a year old when he goes back, and hopefully able to fight all of this off! We know he will get sick, but seeing him so sick right now is so hard.

Tomorrow is opening day for Montgomery Little League so we are hoping Will is ready to go! Keep the boys in your prayers!

Sick again...

Poor Baby Scott. Grace called me Wednesday around noon to tell me he was running fever, so I went and picked him up early. He didn't seem to bad so we made an appointment for the next day. I met Mom at the doctor, and they tested him for flu!!! Thank goodness, the nurse practitioner decided it was the beginning of an ear infection, and just a cold, not the flu. He cannot breathe...which means he can't sleep. We are back to waking every hour!! Thursday night as pretty miserable for me, last night Patrick got up with him. Hopefully once he gets over this, he will start sleeping better again. We all miss our sleep. If not, I have downloaded Ferber's book, and we will be doing some sleep training come Spring Break!
Pray for baby boy to feel better soon!!

Where have we been??

BUSY! Life with 2 children, and 2 full time working parents is busy. Busy, busy, busy. And tiring. I was so glad to have an extra day off this past weekend due to "snow" ... or ice. It was just nice to have an extra day!! I was actually able to really clean my house. I am not sure if I have cleaned it as well as I did since before Scott was born, and he is almost 6 months old. Patrick and I are both training right now (he for an IronMan and me for a half-marathon) so our weekends are spent training separately while the other one watches the kids, grocery shops, cleans, watches the kids, etc... Patrick and I had a date to WalMart a few weeks ago to grcoery shop. How sad is that?? But, anything childless counts as a date these days! Will starts t-ball in a few weeks, so throwing that into the mix as well is going to make life even busier! I know, I know, people everywhere work and have multiple children in mulitple activities, but this Mama and Daddy are just getting used to it! So, excuse my lack of blogging!!

Another reason for my lack of blogging is the fact my USB cable to download pictures from the camera has been broken (since Christmas, oops!) so here are a few from my phone....
Trying out his sippy cup!!

Big brother trying out his batting helmet

Always our happy boy

Loving being the center of attention on his real birthday...Pa, YaYa, Nonnie, Poppy, Mommy and Daddy were singing to the birthday boy!

FOUR! Yes, I said 4...

I do not know where the time has gone...Will is 4. How did this happen?!? We had our family party Saturday and he had a blast. Everything he opened he said, "Just what I wanted!" So sweet. We are blessed to have an amazing, loving, big boy who is such a good big brother.

He is starting T-Ball in March ... Aunt Kelley picked out a great present.

Aunt Amy did great ... he LOVES his fireman raincoat and boots.

Pawpaw with his grandchildren...

We finally got a good family picture!!

Sick boys!

Well, Christmas pictures will be posted at some point ... but, unfortunately we have had 2 sick little boys. Will started running fever on Christmas day. On Monday we took him in and he had bronchitis. He was one sick little boy - an antibiotic, cough medicine, motrin and 4 breathing treatments a day. Needless to say he became a pro, he put on the mask, turned on the machine and usually played a game on one of our phones. However on this day ...

Then on Tuesday Scott started coughing and by Wednesday afternoon he started sounding like he was barking...so back to the doctor we went. He was diagnosed with RSV - Respiratory Syncytial Virus. Of course this scared me to death, but apparently most children have this before the age of 2. Of course some cases are more severe than others. He is feeling better now, but his sleep and eating habits have definitely been effected. I am hoping over the next week we get our sweet, happy baby back to normal!!
Please keep our boys in your prayers! We are hoping for a healthy 2011!

4 Months Old

We had Scott's 4 month appointment today ... he is weighing in at 18 pounds, 25 1/4 inches, and has a big head! The boy is huge, and healthy! We are so blessed. He smiles all the time, and it takes a lot to make him upset. This 4 months has flown by, but we all love being a family of 4. Life is good!

Santa and Cookies!!

For the first time I was brave and Will and I baked some cookies ... he had a blast, we made a mess, and it was worth it! So, cookies are ready for Santa, and so is Will! I have a feeling little man is going to be very happy Christmas morning. He has let Santa know he wants a police car. I cannot wait to see if he gets it :-)
We visited Santa today also. The boys did great. Will was all smiles, and Scott was prefectly content with some stranger holding him!

San Antonio

Patrick and I took Will to San Antonio for a night...just the 3 of us. He has settled in so well to being a big brother, but we know he misses having us all to himself. So, we thought a little getaway would be perfect. At first he was upset that Scott was not going ... he thought we were leaving him by himself! Once we explained he was going to Baytown, it was okay. We left Scott in Baytown Saturday night and headed home so we could get up and get on the road early. Will is a great traveler. He looks around, sings, talks to us and enjoys being in the car. Once we got there (after a stop at Bucee's of course!!) we checked into our hotel, and headed out to explore. Will wanted to see guns and swords (totally random request, he is ALL BOY) so, we took him to the Alamo. He enjoyed it, but it got old pretty quick...you do have to be quiet! We then took him to the Children's Museum and he had a blast! He played, learned, and grocery shopped. Afterwards we grabbed lunch and all took a nap in the hotel (heaven!). We wanted to wait until dark to do the boat ride so that we could fully enjoy the lights. He thought the boat ride was the greatest thing ever ... and kept telling people, "This is my first time in San Antonio!" We had dinner afterwards, and took him to eat ice cream. This morning we enjoyed a little San Marcos outlet shopping, then rushed to Baytown because we all missed Scott. It was a wonderful day/night alone with our oldest boy. We wanted him to know Mommy and Daddy love him very much...even though he has to share us now!

November in Pictures....

Busy, busy month! I am back at work, Scott is staying with YaYa until January, and Will also stays with her 2 days. Getting back into the swing of things with two kiddoes is WORK! I feel like there are not enough hours in the day...below are a bunch of pictures from the month (and they are not in order because Blogger posts them in a funky order...and like I said, I have 2 kids so I am too tired to fix it).

Scott updates: He is sleeping pretty well. Some nights he wakes up, others he doesn't. Either way, we are blessed because he goes back to sleep.... He loves his exersaucer, and prefers to stand. He just turned 3 months yesterday and is fitting in 6 month clothes, some 9 month things. He smiles, laughs, coos, and is an absolute joy!

Will updates: He is a character. The child cracks us up...he can also make us really mad! He can be such a stinker. I joke with him (but he does not know I am joking) that his ears are broken and we are going to have visit Dr. Herrin so he can fix them. But, overall I still think he is one of the sweetest, smartest little boys around. He loves school, and has never met a stranger. He loves everyone.
