Aaahh...sleep!
Last night Mr. Scott slept from 9:00 to 6:00!! Hallelujah! I do realize that this may not happen every night BUT it was wonderful. He has been giving us about a 7 hour stretch every night, so we are counting our blessings with that. He has sort of set his own schedule wanting to have his last bottle around 8:00 after an hour or so of fussing/crying, evenings are tough on the little guy. I really thought 9:00 was a good bedtime for him but finally gave in and realized we have to follow his schedule! So, we do bathtime around 7:30, followed by a bottle and straight to bed. Last night he and Will were with my parents (Yaya and Pa) and grandparents (Nonnie and Poppy) while Patrick and I got to go on a date! They did bath/bottle and he was ready to go to sleep when we got home. I called my mom this morning and told her that they are now in charge of our nighttime routine!!
Will update: He was sick all last week...he missed an entire week of school. It started with a sinus infection, he started antibiotics and appeared to be on the mend and then his fever came back. So, literally all week he was running fever off and on. Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep a 3 1/2 year old away from his baby brother. Nearly impossible...and extremely exhausting (thank goodness Yaya let him come to her house a lot)! We are all glad he is feeling better!

6 Weeks
Time is just flying by. Scott was 6 weeks on Thursday! He is such an alert baby, he loves to just look around. He has the most adorable smile that he flashes when we talk to him. The best is when he wakes up from a nap and smiles the instant he sees my face. He is starting to become more content...not all the time, but I am able to put him in his bouncy seat and do a few things. He just stares at the monkey and frog in awe. He is also starting to take better naps during the day so yesterday I was able to clean the house! He seems to be settling into somewhat of a routine sleeping better at night (thank you, Lord!) and with his eating schedule. It is funny how one forgets so quickly all the "scheduling" that goes along with a newborn. Luckily, he has pretty much on his own done this.
The million dollar grin ... I love those chubby cheeks!

I love how his head is cocked in this picture!

And not to leave big brother out ... Will loves being outside so this weather has been great for us. We have been able to let him play and ride his bicycle a lot more often. He wants to be a triathlete just like Daddy. So he and Daddy went for a short ride the other day (then Daddy left for his real ride) and Will practiced his running in the driveway afterwards. It is the cutest thing ever, and I am sure it won't be long before he is entered in some kind of race (they do have them for young children!). He has been asking when we are going to take off his training wheels...I guess he really is growing up. He is such a big boy, and as soon as he learns how to use his brakes Daddy is going to start working on riding without training wheels.

1 Month!
Wow! What a fast month ... Scott is growing like a weed! We went to his 1 month checkup and he is up to 10 lbs. 9 oz. already, I am telling you the boy likes to eat! He is 20 3/4 inches long which is interesting because he was 21 when he was born! He is healthy and growing, and that is what is important. He is still waking several times a night, until last night! He went down around 9:30 and did not wake to eat until 1:40, then again at 5:30. It feels good to get sleep, but I am afraid it was probably a fluke. Either way, I feel very rested today!
Scott is such a different baby than Will was. So different. Will was content to be put down and just look around, Scott ... not so much. He really likes to be held, and the boy fights naps like crazy! He wants to be awake, looking around WHILE someone holds him! It's okay though, we are enjoying this time and know it will soon be gone. They are only little for so long!! I can say that and look at my big boy who will be 4 in January...4!!
Will is still adjusting to sharing Mommy and Daddy. He loves his brother, but misses being the center of attention. He loves when Scott and I pick him up from school, he really is a proud big brother.
I am enjoying maternity leave so much. Patrick said the other day he forgot how much I talked about wanting to stay home when I had Will...this time is no different, EXCEPT there is no way it can happen now because we are both teachers now! I still have 5 weeks left and will take advantage of every minute home with both my boys!!

Smiles....
Sweet baby boy smiled at both me and Daddy today!! Looking back Will did this around 1 month, so I was skeptical...but he did it at Patrick too. He is becoming so aware, and has some times where he is very alert. He takes in everything around him, and I just know he is going to be so smart. I am hopeful these wakeful periods, and good naps will lead to some good sleep at some point. Haha. I have no pictures because I was too busy staring at his sweet face to take any. I love this stage! He made a few "cooing" noises too...but it seems so early for him to be doing that.

Brotherly Love
We went up to Patrick's school today and took him lunch ... Will had a blast playing with all the fun things in the gym, and Scott just hung out. Daddy enjoyed getting to see his boys in the middle of the day.

Will is such a good big brother. He absolutely loves Scott and is so good with him. He wants to kiss and hug on him constantly. When he hears him crying, he wants to sing, "The Wheels on the Bus" to make him happy again. It is the sweetest thing.

So in love....
We are so enjoying being the parents to two! So far it is fun, and of course a little tiring. I never knew how much you could love 2 little people! It is amazing how Scott has just so naturally become a part of our routine. Will just loves his baby brother. He constantly wants to touch him, talk to him, and be around him. Scott is such a sweet baby. He doesn't fuss a lot, only when he is tired and can't go to sleep. He lets us know when he is hungry ... that is not fussing, it is full fledged screaming! The boy likes to eat! At his 12 day appointment he was up to 8 lbs 7 oz so past his birthweight and gaining steadily. He is still sleeping a lot, and we tend to get one 4 hour stretch at night which is nice. Like his big brother he is showing signs of acid relux. It is no fun to see your baby in pain ... he will thrash around at the bottle, arch his back during feedings, and has had several bad spitting up episodes. Dr. Herrin prescribed Prevacid (just like Will was on) and we started today. We are praying it helps ... and quick! Other than that things are great!

Will in Training
Will has been to all 4 triathlons that Patrick has been in ... he loves watching the racers, and cannot wait until he gets to race too. He practices his "training" just like Daddy. During a triathlon the racers run beside their bicycle and jump on. Just from watching Will has picked up on this. We only got the hopping on part right at the beginning...we will work on a better wideo soon!

Scott Gregory is Here!!!
I was induced Thursday morning after arriving at the hospital at 5:00AM. They started my pitocin drip at about 6:00, then Dr. Winkelmann came around 9:00 and broke my water. Scott joined the world on August 26, 2010 at 3:19PM. He weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz, and was 21 inches long ... a very big boy! He is just perfect, and Will, Mommy and Daddy are in love! Will thinks his little brother is great, and keeps telling us, "I wuv Baby Scott!" We are so blessed and could not be happier with our sweet, little family.
Ready to get this induction going so we can meet our new baby boy!

Big boy ... I had no idea I could have an 8 lb baby!

Brothers meeting for the first time. So sweet!

Incredible Pizza
We took Will to Incredible Pizza for the first time about a week ago...he had so much fun. He got to eat his pizza and watch The Incredibles, then we hit the games. He wanted to play them all, but of course he was a little small for some things. He and Daddy had a good time doing some of the race car games. He won enough tickets to get a duck whistle (which is not annoying at all!) Then we had dessert, which is Will's favorite thing to do!
*The pictures are not great. I did not take my camera, so they are from my iPhone.

Baby Scott update ... I will induced this Thursday, August 26. He seems to be quite comfy in Mommy's tummy! We are so excited and will post pictures as soon as we can of both of our sweet boys!

Celebrating Scott's Impending Arrival
Our sweet friends, The Lloyds wanted to throw us a shower for Baby Scott. So yesterday some of our closest friends and family gathered to shower us with gifts. We had a great time, and enjoyed getting to see everyone! We are very blessed to have so many people excited about the arrival of Baby Scott. I don't have too may pictures, but will add more when I get them from my father-in-law.
Our family of 3 ... soon to be 4!

At my latest doctor appointment we set a date of August 26 (1 day before my big 3-0!) for induction. If Scott does not arrive on his own before then we will induce that Thursday. I am so ready!

DRAMA!
Yesterday was quite the excitement filled day in our house...and not in a good way. As I was getting ready to go to the grocery store I walked from our living room through the kitchen towards the master bedroom. As I reached the hall, I saw and stepped in WATER, and lots of it, like an inch deep. Our washing machine decided to flood our laundry room, hallway, and into our bedroom. So, Patrick and I sprang into action ~ he got the wet/dry vac and started sucking out the water while I swept the excess water out into the garage. After what seemed like forever all the water was gone. Everything but our bedroom is tile (and if I have any say in the next year or so our bedroom will be tile also!) so the damage was not too bad. We did have to peel back our carpet, cut out part of the padding and dry out the carpet.
The repairman came out and after running the washer through several cycles figured out that our water level switch is broken. So instead of adjusting the water level, it just drained the excess out the bottom of the washing machine. Genius, right? After much thought Patrick and I decided we would go ahead and buy a new washing machine - we still had the ones that came with the house when we built in Cypress - and this morning we decided we NEEDED a matching pair (haha!). So, we set off and got ourselves new front loaders that will be delivered on Sunday. I am so excited! I know I am officially getting old when appliances excite me...30 is just around the corner!

Good News!
I had an appointment with Dr. Winkelmann yesterday. I mentioned to her that Will joined us early (37 weeks, 2 days), and was that an indication that maybe Scott would too?? I knew that her answer would be no, but after she said no, I told her there was no way I could make it to 40 weeks with this baby! She then said, "Oh, I'm not letting you go that far, we will induce...." So, I know that this little guy will at least get to join us by 39 weeks, which happens to be my birthday week! What a great 30th birthday present that would be, although I certainly would not mind if he came sooner! So, we know that in at least 7 weeks we will be a family of 4! I am so excited to meet Scott, and so are Daddy and Will.
His room is almost ready (ready enough for him, things not on the walls yet), his closet is organized, and Mommy is more than ready for this pregnancy to come to an end ... it is hot, I am big.
Will is so ready for his baby to get here. He refers to Scott as, "my baby", it is so sweet. He is so good with babies I know he is going to be a wonderful big brother and such a great helper to me. I have decided while I am on maternity leave he is going to be home with me a couple days a week. I want my alone time with Scott, but I also want Will to have that bonding time with his little brother.
In recent Will news, I was working with him the other morning on his letters and we decided to practice his name....

Let me tell you I am a proud Mommy!! He is identifying many of his letters, and we practice them on almost a daily basis. He is such a smart boy.
I just love this picture...he was hanging in bed with Mommy before bedtime.

Sick....
So, this last week we have been fighting something! Will got some stomach bug to start if off, followed by a runny nose and cough. He seemed to be feeling ok all last week so he went to school, and we did our normal activities (except swimming). Yesterday he woke up very cranky. He went along to the grocery store with me, but once we got home I could tell he as not feeling well and his fever came on quick. He took some Motrin, and fell asleep ... needless to say we had a long day with 2 naps and lots of snuggling. He seems to be feeling better this morning but we are headed to the doctor anyway in hopes of kicking this so e can get back to our fun summer!

Swimming!
Our very good family friends, The Brunsons - who live around the corner from my parents, just got a new pool put in this year. It is just beautiful, and we get to swim in it! Our little boy is going to be quite the fish ... he is still using floaties, but is making progress. He will take them off for periods of time, and try to swim by himself. Such a big boy!!

And here is a picture of Patrick and I before one of my good friends weddings. I am officially in the 3rd trimester!

School's Out for SUMMER!
We, here at the McLendon house, could not be more excited. Both being teachers, we are excited about our summers off together as a family...we hope to take Will to do lots of fun (and air conditioned) activities this summer. This heat is already making Mommy tired! Will is going to continue to go to school 2 days a week so he can stay in somewhat of a routine, but he will not have to wake up at 6 AM (and neither will I!). We really don't have much planned other than relaxing and enjoying being at home. I want to take Will to the beach, Space Center House, The Children's Museum and a few other things. So, hopefully we will be able to fit all of that in.
How cute is this child?? I just love him!

We started working on Baby Scott's room last weekend. We ended up finding the bedding at Target ... I had looked endlessly with no luck. All boy stuff is blue and brown or themed. I wanted neither of those. I found something online that I thought I liked ok so we went to look at it. Will picked up this bedding, and when I took it to look at it I ended up liking it. So, Will ended up picking out his baby brother's bedding! Then wonderful Daddy painted the room so we are on our way to having a room for our new little boy! Sorry it is blurry, I took with my phone to email YaYa since her and Pa were out of town ...
